Szela (Sławka) Ligenza-Hill: Artist and Painter
From my earliest childhood days I have always had an interest in art and in painting, I was always happy when attending painting art classes in the house of culture in Gdynia (Poland) which was run by well known polish artist, MARIA Zabłocka.
I attended the Gdansk (Poland) University of Technology Faculty of Civil Engineering degree course, which I completed with distinction after 5 years. After several years of working in design I then decided to return to the interests of my childhood and began to pursue those interests, meeting up artistically and at the same time making a living for myself and my daughter Maja.
I co-operated with Artists Cooperative Work in Warsaw (Poland) WZÓR (DESIGN), Cooperative Creative Work of Polish Artists ARPO in Gdansk, SZTUKA POLSKA (POLISH ART), art gallery SCENA I GALERIA ANNY KAREŃSKIEJ (STAGE and GALLERY) in Poznań (Poland), Art Gallery ELIZABETH SUBBOTKO in Gdynia, Art Gallery of Contemporary Art in Gdansk, EVA, TVP Gdansk (TV set design), fashion magazine BEA. As a designer of fabric art I have participated in numerous prestigious fashion shows (detailed on the exhibitions page), a collection of photos of knitted finished products from that time can be seen here.
In the years 1990 – 2004 I ran my own trading company P.H. MAYAL which was dedicated to the importing and marketing of products serving the decoration and interior design areas. After closing the company I finally had more time to concentrate on my first interest painting and I have produced numerous individual paintings. Please spend some time looking at examples of my work. Since 2007 I have been associated with CLUB WOMEN MALWY. When painting, mostly in pastels and acrylic.
My time is now divided between close to my heart Sopot (Poland) and beloved Montepino in Spain.
